About Me

A warm welcome to “VeggiePotNPan”. I am Swathi, the food blogger, the chef behind my recipes, the food photographer capturing my cooking style, and a story teller penning down various stories behind each and every recipe. A software professional and a mother of two, my time with VeggiePotNPan is usually over the weekends, when I pursue my hobbies and passion!

A small flashback at this juncture

Having brought up in multiple cities – thanks to my father’s transferable job – I got an exposure to the diversities in food, culture and life across India. I grew up admiring my mother who passionately went about exploring, innovating and cooking with whatever ingredients available. She remains an inspiration to this day. As kids, we were never forced to learn to cook. To be frank, I learnt to make tea after getting married!!! However, it was her who taught me to look at cooking as a good stress buster when done out of passion than out of compulsion.

IT job, international friends and equally passionate and encouraging family have further widened my exposure.

Being an art enthusiast, I have a flair for music, colors, photography, travel, languages and food. I have pursued few of these as my hobbies too.

Having worked as as IT Professional for several years in the IT hub of Bengaluru, I never got a chance to explore much on my interests. I started my journey with VeggiePotNPan while on a short break (when my daughter was little) trying to regain some lost territories. During my IT days in Bangalore, my kitchen time would be late in the night, when I could peacefully explore various dishes… especially those demanded by my daughter!!! At times she would wake up in the middle of the night and demand for a chocolate cake out of nowhere!!! Well, now though, the exploring time is only over the weekends!

Whenever I come across anything interesting in the market and find that my family loves it, I tell myself “why don’t I try this at home?”. There is some kind of satisfaction if I can prefix the dishes / items that we eat with “Homemade”.

While doing all the hunting for recipes and ingredients, I did keep getting thoughts, why not write a blog of my own, some day ???

With the busy work-life routine, I never got an opportunity for it.

Here I am finally though, with my food blog.

Back to the present day

Two kids, a full time job and managing home, away from home, in Germany, I dont get to spend lot of time for Veggiepotnpan. But, I try to strike out some balance and bring some time out for my passion  – Veggiepotnpan!

I don’t really have a standard way of cooking any dish – as long as it is tasty and eatable – it’s a great recipe. Of course, at times, I do follow the traditional style as well, as this helps me innovate changes for the same dish. Consequently, many of my recipes turn out to be a fusion.

Being vegetarian is not just my way of life, but something that I wish to proudly endorse all through my life. My blog is a humble effort in encouraging people to try out different vegetarian food and recipes. Through this blog all I wish to convey is that – “There are 6 tastes in food and you can taste them all by being a vegetarian.”

Putting it all together, ‘VeggiePotNPan’ is a pure vegetarian food blog, by a food blogger who is as good a cook as you – If I can, so can you . Here, you can find easy vegilicious food recipes that are mouth smacking and quick to prepare.

Go!!! Indulge in Veg!
