I am sure that most of us here, be it kids or adults, have a weakness for cookies. It is one of those ‘must-have’ snack at home to satisfy the intermittent sweet cravings of the little ones and of course, us too!!! And a small percentage of the foodies are fond of having cookies along with a cup of ‘Chai’ or hot milk. Well, most of the dishes that I prepare are either demanded by my family or specifically, by my daughter, but I bake cookies – Choco chip cookies, simply for the love of it!!!
The crunchy cookie melts like butter once inside the mouth. The vanilla essence adds to the flavour. The peeping choco chips in between, make the cookie more chocolaty and makes us enjoy every bite of the cookie.
Total time: 30 minutes
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Baking time: 15 minutes + 5 minutes cooling time
Makes: 32
Ingredients:
Flour: 2.5 cups
Sugar: 1.5 cups
Butter: 200 g
Baking powder: 1 tbsp.
Salt: a pinch
Choco chips: 1 cup
Other bakes
Method:
· In a wide mouthed deep bowl, beat butter and sugar until soft and creamy
· Add flour, baking powder, salt and essence to the above and mix well
· Add choco chips and mix. Do not use water. The resultant dough is soft, but not of batter of running consistency
· Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 180 deg C for about 10 minutes
· Drop a spoonful of the mixture to a lined baking tray. You may pat a little in the center. But it is purely optional
· Repeat the above steps with the prepared dough by keeping adequate space between each cookie
· Transfer the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake at 180 deg. C for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the edges turn brown. Switch off the oven and let it cool.
· Transfer the cookies to the cooling rack and let it cool.
· Munch the cookies fresh with a cup of tea, coffee or hot milk. Or, have it as is, while watching your favorite TV program, or while on a picnic

American Cookies, as these cookies are famously referred to as, is much sought after in my family. When we are travelling around, we have a bagful of these goodies to munch on the go. And this one is the favorite pick of my daughter!!! And why not, the taste is such. We all wait for the packet to be opened and once opened, within no time it is emptied!!!
